About Janine Thompson, MSW, RSW
Compassionate, Trauma-Informed Counselling in Kelowna & Online in BC

Empathetic, Evidence-Based Counselling for Trauma, Healing, and Growth
For over a decade, I’ve supported individuals and families through life’s most difficult and meaningful moments. Throughout this time, my experience has spanned both public and private sectors, allowing me to offer counselling that is not only trauma-informed and confidential, but also inclusive and deeply compassionate.
In my practice, I provide a safe, welcoming space for people from all walks of life to explore their emotions, challenges, and personal stories. Whether you're navigating grief, trauma, anxiety, or a major life change, I walk alongside you—offering care, encouragement, and tools to help you reconnect with yourself and move toward healing.
Professionally, I’m a Registered Social Worker (RSW) with a Master’s in Clinical Social Work and many years of experience supporting individuals through mental health, trauma, and substance use challenges. At the heart of my work is a deep commitment to empathy, inclusivity, and evidence-based care.
Over the years, I’ve worked across health systems and in private practice, offering both individual and group counselling. I use a range of therapeutic approaches—including EMDR, CBT, DBT, and trauma-informed care—to meet the unique needs of each client. I’m passionate about helping people feel seen, heard, and supported—especially during times of change or crisis.
In addition to my clinical work, I’ve trained and mentored students and new practitioners. I also stay engaged in ongoing professional development to ensure my practice remains current and responsive. Above all, my work is grounded in cultural humility, strengths-based approaches, and a commitment to meeting each client where they’re at.
So, whether you're a student curious about the field or someone looking for support, I believe in the power of connection and meaningful change.
