Why Counselling?

Therapy isn’t about changing who you are. It’s about helping you come home to yourself.

What to expect from Counselling

Counselling is a safe, supportive space where you can talk openly about what you’re going through. A counsellor is someone trained to listen without judgment, offer perspective, and help you make sense of your thoughts and emotions.

It’s not about being “broken” or needing to be “fixed.” It’s about being human and having a place to sort through the hard stuff, the confusing stuff, and everything in between.

How Counselling Works
A counsellor helps you:
• Understand what you’re feeling and why it might be happening
• Explore patterns in your thoughts, relationships, or behaviour
• Build tools to cope with stress, anxiety, grief, or big life changes
• Make sense of your past so it doesn’t define your present
• Reconnect with your strengths, values, and sense of self

What to Expect in a Session

Counselling is a conversation. It is not an interrogation or a lecture. A counsellor’s job is to listen without judgement and to support you to work through difficult times. You decide what we talk about and how fast we go. Sometimes it’s emotional, sometimes it’s quiet, sometimes it’s full of small insights that add up over time.

It might include:
• Talking about what’s been weighing on you
• Learning tools to manage emotions or set boundaries
• Exploring deeper parts of your identity, trauma, or relationships
• Simply having a space where you feel seen, heard, and supported

You Don’t Have to Be in Crisis
A lot of people think you have to be “at rock bottom” to go to counselling. That is not true. Therapy is for anyone who wants support, clarity, healing, or growth.
If you’re feeling stuck, overwhelmed, disconnected, and want to better understand yourself that is reason enough.

Still Unsure? That’s Okay.
It’s normal to feel uncertain, especially if you’ve never been to counselling before. Or maybe you tried counselling in the past and it wasn’t a positive experience. Finding a counsellor you feel you can build trust with is imperative. If you’re curious, book a free consultation. This gives you a chance to meet me and let me know a bit about yourself.
